About Todd
My name is Todd LeVeck, and I'm a husband, a father of three small children, a teacher, a Navy Reservist, and a proud Ohioan who was born in Cleveland. My life has been a life of service; first in the military, then as a Cleveland teacher, and soon to be as the Representative of Ohio's 16th State House District.
I've been involved in politics since I can remember. When I was still in middle school, I helped my mother become elected to the school board in Sheffield Lake, and I've been active ever since. As a Cleveland teacher, I've worked as a building delegate, a chapter chairperson, and on the Cleveland Teachers Union Executive Board as the Chairperson of the Legislative Committee. During my teaching career, I've watched lawmakers experiment on our public schools with failed experiments such as for-profit charter schools, an illegal funding system, and an over-emphasis on testing at the expense of creativity and exploration. Our children deserve better.
I graduated from Brookside High School in Sheffield Lake in 1986, and joined the Navy in 1990 after four years or working full-time and attending community college. During my Navy career, I served in the Red Sea on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and spent most of my career as an Aviation Logistics Specialist. In that time, I attended college in the evenings and earned a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from St. Leo College and a Masters Degree in Education from Old Dominion University. I left active duty in 1998 and began teaching in Cleveland under the Troops to Teachers program. I currently serve in the Navy Reserve as a Logistics Specialist First Class in Akron, Ohio.
I presently teach Computer Programming at Max S. Hayes High School on Cleveland's west side. I've been at Max S. Hayes for 9 years, and I'm active as a coach, union representative, and in various other capacities in our school. If elected to the State House of Representatives, I will take a sabbatical from my teaching duties to serve Ohio (everyone always asks).
My hobbies include reading, golf, traveling with my family, and running. I've run 9 marathons in the past 10 years. I am involved in a number of civic organizations including the Northeast Ohio Sierra Club, the Cub Scouts, and the Cleveland West Road Runners Club.
I'm running to take back the 16th District House Seat in Columbus, currently held by a Republican, and put this seat back in the hands of Democrats who care about our neighbors; working people, struggling families, teachers, nurses, firefighters, police officers, public servants, and average Americans who love their country and the American dream I promise to uphold. I want to represent you and will fight for you everyday in Columbus. I ask for your vote and, together, we can rebuild our community, region and state.
